Site Updates

- The name of this place has been changed to "Art for Mike", since there's now two of us offering art up here (with the possibility of more artists to come).

- An FAQ and Thank You page have been set up, to answer questions and thank those who help out, respectively.

- Finally, Laura should be adding updated info soon on agencies that they've applied to for help and what the current plan of action is.

Thanks, everyone!

Getting Set Up

I've been talking about doing this for a few days now, so this probably isn't new to a lot of people.

Basically, I want to sell my art to help fund cancer-eliminating surgery for my friend, Mike.

I'm still figuring out where to put up images of my paintings and junk, but I thought I'd start blogging about this now anyway.

You can find more information about Mike and his situation on the About page and obviously I'm going to keep a running tally of how much I'm able to help Mike and his family out by using this handy-dandy thermometer on the right.

If you'd like to make an outright donation to help Mike, please send it via PayPal to miketrethewey@gmail.com

Thanks for your time and attention.

Commissions: Jill Powell

Jill hails from the frozen north of Edmonton, Alberta and makes art when she's not baking up delicious things.
How did you get involved with this project?: Everyone should have access to health care, and I wanted to help Mary support her friends in any way that I could. Which is basically with watercolours.
Contact Jill at: jill.powell@gmail.com
4x6: $10
5x7: $15
8x10: $20-50 (depending on complexity etc)
11x14: $50-100

Media: watercolours
How this works:
Email me (jill.powell@gmail.com) and describe what you'd like. We'll hammer out details, trade contact info, figure out postage, and I'll give you an estimated timeline for completion. Then you'll be asked to send payment via PayPal to miketrethewey@gmail.com. Once I get confirmation from Mike & Laura that they've received payment, I'll get to work on your art!

Commissions: Mary Walsh

Mary's a good example of just how useful a painting degree and English minor are (yup, unemployment). She paints when not spending all of her time volunteering.

How did you get involved with this project?: I'm a good friend of Laura's, and am therefore a good friend of Mike's. To see Mike go through so much already, only to be hung out to dry now...it's infuriating. He, and others in the same situation, deserve so much more.

Available media: watercolors, acrylics, gouache, pen & ink, mixed media
